CEPL

The Cognitive Electrophysiology Laboratory (CEPL) at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University Medical Center, was established by Dr. David Friedman in 1986.

Research at the CEPL focuses on the relationship between the mind and the brain. Our main research technique is the event-related brain potential (ERP) recorded from dense electrode arrays placed on the scalp. We integrate these kinds of brain imaging data, along with behavioral, and neuropsychological data in order to characterize attention and memory processes, to understand how these processes change throughout the life span, and to elucidate their neuronal underpinnings.
