The New York State Psychiatric Institute offers a wide range of clinical services, for individuals with schizophrenia, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse, anxiety disorders, and other conditions. Most treatment occurs in the context of research studies. Inpatient care is provided on two research units and one clinical unit.

Our outpatient research clinics treat a wide range of psychiatric disorders and serve adults, children, and the elderly. In general, people eligible to participate in our studies can receive treatment at no cost. In addition, the Washington Heights Community Service provides inpatient and outpatient treatment to residents of upper Manhattan.

The New York State Psychiatric Institute offers a wide range of educational and training programs, for medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians and other disciplines including clinical psychology, nursing, RT/OT and social work. Continuing Medical Education is offered through various CME programs. The ethical conduct of research at NYSPI is ensured by our Institutional Review Board (IRB).
