Directions to the New York State Psychiatric Institute And Map of the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center

The New York State Psychiatric Institute consists of two buildings in northern Manhattan, one (the "New PI") is at 1051 Riverside Drive, and the other (the Lawrence G. Kolb Research Laboratories) is at 40 Haven Avenue,. They are connected by a bridge that goes over Riverside Drive. The Resident offices and the Office of Postgraduate Education are located on the First Floor of the New PI. Unless you are traveling by car or cab, we recommend coming to the New PI via the entrance at 40 Haven Avenue.

By Subway: Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center is directly accessed by the A, C, and 1 subways. Get off at 168th Street.  The subway stop at 168th will indicate Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center (on the 1 subway you will take an elevator up to ground level, on the A and C lines you will be on that same ground level and will walk up one short flight of steps to the street). Go to the corner of 168th and Broadway and walk west toward the Hudson River.

On Foot: - Enter the Kolb Research Laboratories (PI), 40 Haven Avenue, the red brick building facing you, at the very end of 168th Street. You will be asked to sign in and you will be directed to the bridge across Riverside Drive which will take you to the 6th floor of the new portion of PI.  Take the elevators down to the 1st floor. Resident offices and the Office of Postgraduate Education are located across the atrium lobby and down the corridor on your left.

By Auto: Visitors may be dropped off and picked up from the driveway entrance at 1051 Riverside Drive in front of the New York State Psychiatric Institute Building.  There is no accommodation for automobiles to park at this entrance, but parking is available either on Riverside Drive (free) or at the parking lot at the corner of Ft. Washington Ave. and 165th Street ($26). When entering from this entrance you will be asked to sign in at the security desk in the first floor lobby, and then proceed down the hallway on the left to the Resident offices and the Office of Postgraduate Education.
